The Gatsby Charitable Foundation provided USD 17.8 million for development in 2020 through its grantmaking activities. Compared to 2019, this amount represents a decrease of 11% in real terms.

In 2020, the Gatsby Charitable Foundation provided all of its development finance bilaterally. It was fully focused on East Africa (USD 17.8 million), notably the United Republic of Tanzania and Kenya.

A majority of the commitments made by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation in 2020 targeted agriculture, forestry and fishing; industry, mining and construction; and financial and business services.

In terms of the 2030 Agenda, the Gatsby Charitable Foundation’s development finance mainly supported SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth) and SDG 10 (reduced inequalities) in 2020.
